Jenna Laine Weddings: Tori and Ryan

Tori and Ryan’s March wedding at Bella Sera Gardens was the sweetest celebration to be apart of. Tori chose to incorporate different shades of peach into the design of her day, and we don’t think it could have looked any more perfect! Guests gathered with the couple near a beautiful floral arbor as they vowed to forever. The celebration continued with an amazing meal, followed by dancing all night long under a beautiful white tent. Cheers to the McVay’s!

Our Summer Wishlist- $100 and Under

Our weekly team meetings are usually jam packed, but they don’t always consist of just work :) This week we shared some items we have been eying for summer that we think you’ll love too! Check out what the girls on our team are crushing on this season:

We have heard nothing but good things about the book Where The Crawdads Sing. Ashley is hoping to read this by the pool during her off days!

Leslie has her eyes on this speaker. Since she will be spending more time with her kiddos this summer, we think it would be perfect for summer dance parties!

Jenna Laine Weddings: Caroline and Thomas

Caroline & Thomas’s Grand Hotel wedding was one for the books! They had the sweetest group of friends and family surrounding them in celebration as they tied the knot. We had the opportunity to work closely with both of their families, as we got to plan the rehearsal dinner and wedding day! From the rehearsal dinner at The Venue to the ceremony on the lawn of the Grand Hotel to the reception in the ballroom, every detail of their wedding weekend was so special. Y’all know we love paper design, and Caroline had some of our favorite paper choices of the year! She had a smile on her face all weekend long and it was so sweet and infectious. One of our favorite memories of their day was when one Thomas’s groomsmen dressed up and pretended he was Caroline during the first look. Thomas’s reaction was priceless! Tell us about your story.

Thomas and I both grew up in the same circle of friends, but somehow never met until a couple of years ago on a very special night at a bar in New Orleans called Fat Harry’s. As soon as I walked into the bar, I saw Thomas talking to my good friends, Brooks and Mallory, who also happen to be his cousins. I remember talking to Brooks saying, “Why have you never introduced me to him before?” So in an attempt to get Thomas’ attention, I shot a spit ball at his from across the bar. He claims that was the moment he knew I was the one- he even looked over at Brooks and said, “I’m going to marry that girl.” From that night on, Thomas and I have been on cloud nine!

He asked me to marry him in my favorite place in the whole world, at my grandfather’s fishing camp in Grand Isle, LA. I call it “my happy place.” He did such a good job and even invited all of our best friends down for the weekend to celebrate! He proposed on the dock at sunset. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to kick off the wedding festivities!

What was your vision for the wedding?

My vision for the wedding was everyone together- smiling, dancing, and happy- which is exactly what we got! From the wedding reception to the Karaoke pool party, we never stopped dancing and I definitely never stopped smiling! Everything flowed so well thanks to the set up that Jenna recommended. The reception and rehearsal dinner were set up perfectly to accommodate all of our loved ones. At the rehearsal dinner, she put together a very, very, long and beautiful table to fit everyone in our wedding party. I loved looking to my left and right and seeing all of my favorite people at one dinner table!

At the reception, the dance floor was definitely my favorite- there was a white dance floor from SOHO which sat under a huge flower chandelier hung by Wildflowers and the lighting people (can’t think of their name). I was so excited about the flower chandeliers over the dance floor and they turned out even more beautiful than I ever imagined! It was the perfect, most beautiful spot for our first dance as husband and wife!

What was your favorite moment of the day?

My favorite moment of the day was when we did the “first look prank” on Thomas. We chose to do our first look on the beach and it was BEAUTIFUL. But, I decided to have a little fun with it. When Thomas turned around, expecting to see me, our friend Brooks was standing there in my mom’s wedding dress from the 80’s. The look on Thomas’ face was absolutely priceless.

If you could give advice to another bride in the process of planning her wedding what would it be?

My #1 advice would be to hire an incredibly organized and sophisticated wedding planner, such as Jenna Laine weddings! It was so nice having her and her assistant there to make sure everything went smoothly. As I’m sure many of you have probably heard, planning a wedding can become a stressful situation, especially when you’re trying to juggle a job, school, and other aspects of life. Jenna and her team made the whole process effortless and put my dream into a reality! They met us all the way in New Orleans with SOHO rentals and Wildflowers to help us design the wedding. The hair and makeup artists, Brushed and Blushed, also made a trip to New Orleans to do my hair and makeup trial- which was so fun! Everyone associated with Jenna Laine weddings went above and beyond to help me have the most beautiful wedding weekend. I am SO thankful for their help and I know I could not have done any of it without their (or my mom/mother-in-law’s) help along the way!

Since May went by so quickly, we are a few days late— but we wanted to share our team’s top 10 things we loved last month! We are quickly approaching the end of the marathon of spring weddings, so June will be a time for our team to relax and work on the rush of fall weddings we have lined up! 1. Capri Blue Lotion - this may go down as one of Jenna’s all time favorites! This lotion is a must have— the smell is our favorite! We are totally wishing our office smelled like this 24/7.

3. Bluelight Blocking Glasses- since we spend the majority of the day working on a computer, bluelight blocking glasses are super popular in our office! Stop by JJ Eyes in downtown Fairhope to grab a pair.

4. Thomas Rhett’s new album- the perfect summer tunes! These songs have us ready to head to the beach.

5. The Fairhope Store goodies- we love when destination brides gift their wedding party something from the Fairhope Store! Its the perfect way for them to remember your wedding weekend getaway.

6. A Simplified Life- this book from Emily Ley has been so popular in our office! The perfect poolside reading filled with tons of tips for simplifying everyday life.

7. Baking Me Happy Cookies- sweet Jessica made some of the most beautiful (and delicious) cookies for a special project we have been working on. Her cookies are the best!

8. Wedding Day Shoes from Shoefly- being on your feet for 14+ hours on weddings days can take a toll, but Shoefly has the comfiest shoes that make wedding days run even more smoothly.

9. Harvest Jewels- they have the cutest statement necklaces for any occasion!

10. Working with some of the sweetest brides- we had a super packed month of May- but we wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Jenna Laine Weddings: Maggie and Ross

You know we love a private residence wedding and Maggie and Ross’ day was no exception! We loved working with Maggie to plan the perfect wedding day. She loved bright colors and we were so excited to incorporate that into the design. The couple vowed to forever at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and then celebrated with friends and family under a beautiful white tent on a family friend’s property. One of our favorite parts was the beautiful floral chandelier Wildflowers created to hang over the dance floor. Maggie and Ross’ day was so sweet and we loved getting to play a small part in their love story. Cheers to the Palesano’s!

Jenna Laine Weddings: Our Summer Interns

Today we wanted to introduce you to two new faces you will see in our office this summer! We have Jessica and Kathleen interning, and we couldn’t be happier to have them. Our internship program offers an opportunity for college students to gain exposure to event planning and design. They work directly under Jenna and Leslie and gain all kinds of experience from office duties to vendor communication to graphic design to working a wedding weekend. It has been so helpful to have them this summer so far, as it has been so busy! We wanted to share more about the two sweet girls we have this summer, so we sat down and asked them a few questions. See some of their answers below and be sure to say hello when you see them in our office!

Jessica:

School – Auburn University

Hometown – Fairhope, AL

Favorite part about a wedding day? My favorite part about a wedding day is watching everything that we have been working on for so long fall into place perfectly for the bride and groom on their big day. Planning a wedding takes so much hard work that is done behind the scenes and even though I am only an intern, it is so rewarding to watch all of our hard work pay off and come together like we hoped.

Favorite wedding trend? My favorite wedding trend for right now would have to be the first look with the bridesmaids. Although the wedding day is mostly meant for the bride and the groom, I think it is important to fill your special day with meaningful moments with the people who have been by your side through it all and not to mention, who have helped you dream of this day since you were a little girl.

Dream vacation? My dream vacation would definitely be to Greece. I would love to go sailing in their clear blue water as well as eat all of their tasty foods.

Favorite thing about your college experience so far? My favorite thing about my college experience so far is the independence that I have developed through school, Greek life and friendships. I definitely feel more in control of my life and what each day consists of, which I love.

3 things you can’t live without? The three F’s – Friends, Family and Food

Favorite food/Netflix show/candy? At the moment, my favorite food would have to be flaming hot Cheetos. My favorite television show of all time is One Tree Hill. My favorite candy is airhead extremes.

Favorite thing you have done so far at Jenna Laine Weddings? My favorite thing I have done at JLW would be assembling wedding invitations. I love looking at all of the different designs, logos and fonts and how they correlate together in a way that represents both the bride and the groom.

Kathleen

Major- Hospitality

Hometown- Mountain Brook, AL

Favorite part about a wedding day? My favorite part about wedding days is getting to see each bride and groom’s personality show throughout the details of their wedding. From the moment she walks down the aisle to their first dance song every detail shows something about what makes this day special to them and I love getting to be a part of that.

Favorite wedding trend? My favorite wedding trend would have to be the signature drink. A signature drink is another way to incorporate personal details into a wedding day. Guests love it and the bride and groom get to sip on their favorite cocktail all night- what could be better?

Dream vacation? My dream vacation would be spending two weeks in Hawaii and boating around to each island.

Favorite thing about your college experience so far? My favorite thing about college so far has been the friendships I’ve made through my sorority. I have so many friends from different states and I’ve I loved getting to see their cities as well as show them mine.

3 things you can’t live without? Family, Friends and Desserts

Favorite food/Netflix show/candy? Mac and cheese. Sour patch kids. One Tree Hill.

Favorite thing you have done so far at Jenna Laine Weddings? My favorite thing I’ve done so far at JLW has been the catering tasting at The Grand Hotel. They have incredible options available and watching the bride and groom choose what their guests would eat on their wedding day was really special.
